SUMMARY OF EVENTS



LOPEZ was referred to the department following on-going investigation by Father Torres, locum for the Basilica de Guadalupe June 21st 2006.  In his report he stated LOPEZ met criteria for a Section 13 exorcism as cited in the Ritual Romanum, in accordance to the Vatican guidelines published in 1999.


LOPEZ had previously undergone thorough psychiatric and medical assessment by local physicians prior to her referral.

The following are some excerpts from the medical report issued by Dr. Rapheal Constanez on June 4th 2006.



“…I referred the subject to Dr. Lumina of the UNMH Sleep Disorders Centre, Albuquerque, however the assessment was inconclusive. Dr. Lumina could find no under-lying psychological cause…the subject (Lopez) has not reacted to the Benzodiazepine prescribed, still complaining of night terrors resulting in her self-harm…the physical escalation causes great concern… May 16th…following my previous report, the subject appears self-delusional, claiming the injuries are not self-inflicted following her disrupted sleep…Miss Lopez states ‘The Devil fucks me’…examination of vaginal / anal wounding is akin to that of rape victims, severe trauma includes anal sphincter rupture, periurethral tears and perianal lacerations…similar wounding is a direct result of trauma suffered during childbirth…I have also expressed my concerns with Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del Distrito Federal…the subjects family have also asked me to make this report available to their local diocese under the grounds of their ethnic diversity and strong spiritual beliefs…June 2nd I saw Miss Lopez again today…fresh wounding suggests self-mutilation has peaked, extensive burns to her mouth and tears around her throat cause grievous concern… during my appointment she appeared very distant…unable to maintain eye contact…the damage to her larynx has had a significant impact on her voice…low, guttural growls…Miss Lopez informs me, and I quote, that “You are a dirty fucking man, who wants nothing more than to fuck me in every hole until I bleed freely over your cock”. In the interests of professional conduct I can do nothing more with this subject and have now referred her to the appropriate agencies for further consultation and analysis.”



On June 21st 2006, the primary case file was reviewed by the department, who confirmed satisfaction that LOPEZ displayed some signs that were typically in line with conventional Demonic possession. A second assessment was authorized and LOPEZ was transferred into our care.



1.Lack of Appetite – LOPEZ had admitted to her physician that she would often not eat, as she never found herself hungry.  During his investigation between May – June 2006, LOPEZ dropped from 132lbs (Ideal weight / height ratio) to under 90lbs. The significant drop in weight lent itself to further health problems symptomatic of malnutrition and a low immune system.

 
2.Bodily Harm – As the doctors report cites LOPEZ underwent extreme physical trauma – A full copy of the report is available on request.


3.A Change in the Subjects Voice – Although the Doctor’s report suggests this was a direct result of 2nd degree burns to the mouth and throat, Catholic statute dictates that the cause may also be levied toward Demonic infestation.  Although the direct cause of the vocal discordance cannot be completely attributed to either, she still met the criteria for it to be allowed in our assessment.


4.Temperature Fluctuations – I had the opportunity of meeting the subject during our secondary assessment phase. I was able to witness the subjects ability to adjust the immediate room temperature, causing it to become unnaturally cold. During one session, LOPEZ was able to cause the temperature to drop from 74 degrees Fahrenheit to 58 in less than thirty seconds. There was no other explanation for this bout of paranormal activity.


5.Violent Rejection of Religious Imagery / Icons – During the initial phase of the assessment, Father Torres was hospitalized as he presented her with a number of religious images.  The provocation of Jesus Christ caused LOPEZ to break free from her restraint and take the priest by the throat, crushing his cartilage.


6.Extreme Strength (Abnormal to that of the Subject) – See above.


7.Foreign Tongues – Despite the assessor’s best endeavors, LOPEZ did not satisfy this criterion.  It has been previously documented that sometimes the possessing Demon will not discuss matters in languages that are not native to their hosts.  The reason for this, as far as we can surmise, is they simply do not wish to entertain our requests.



On July 18th 2006 LOPEZ was released back into the custody of Father Torres, and returned home to await our conclusion. Deliberation took place on the same day, and, at 01:42 hrs on July 19th 2006, full authorization was granted to perform a ‘Major Exorcism’ in accordance with Sec. 13 Ritual Romanum. Two case workers, Father K. Vestor and Father T. Michaels were employed to conduct the ceremony.

The Catholic Church requires that all Exorcisms are documented for accountability. Other than the digital film and audio recordings, Priests are also required to keep a diary of events throughout.  This enables the Priest to reflect on their thoughts and feelings during a very stressful and exhausting time. It provides the Catholic Church with an insight to the psychology behind performing an Exorcism, and allows them to assess their agents performance appropriately.
